Use It Tuesday #36-Uncut Paper

It's time for a new challenge over at Use It Tuesday and this time we're digging into our stash for some uncut paper.

I'm sure all of you have uncut paper stashed away but the harder challenge is to look for the pretty papers that you may have saved but feel that it is too beautiful to use. For me, this was quite the challenge as I absolutely love saving papers of any kind and would be perfectly happy just looking at them rather than using them. When I dug into my stash, I had a half pound stack of handmade papers as well as Japanese papers from an art store I got months ago. This was what I finally made out of them.

I also had a beautiful pack of Cavallini Decorative Tape my husband gave me after I talked to him endlessly about washi tape-I'm glad I finally got to use it. Everything except the white gel pen used to write the sentiment has been hoarded.

Now it's your turn! Come play along at Use It Tuesday and show us some of the beautiful papers you've been stashing away ;) Don't forget to tell us what you hoarded supplies you used. You have until Friday, August 3rd to link up.

Black cardstock

I finally got to use my stack of black cardstock again. CAS-ual Fridays is using black card base this week and I'm joining in :) I'm also inspired by the sketch over at retrosketches.

The paper behind the bag is a piece of beautiful Japanese paper I got from the art store months ago. The bag stamp and flower stamp are from the blog candy I won months ago too (thank you Kymberlee from The Paper Midwife!). Lastly, I finally used the crop-a-dile for the little eyelet on the Japanese paper. I would say I'm really getting into the mindset of using up my craft stash which is exactly what Use It Tuesday encourages (I'm still drawn to buying more craft stash though :S). Come join me again tomorrow for a new challenge over at Use It Tuesday.

Loving DIY Washi Tape

After trying to make my own washi tape from my last post, I can't get enough of it. I just love the contrast of the inks against the soft tissue paper.

I'm entering this card in the Moxie Fab Challenge (Love Card)

Happy Sun(ny)day!

DIY Washi Tape

I tried making my own washi tape for the first time the other night and I'm in love with it!

CAS-ual Fridays' challenge this week is to use strips of colour or pattern  and one of the DT members, Virginia Lu inspired my venture into DIY washi tape making :) This is my first card attempt with my own washi tape but I'm hoping to try it out more in the near future.

What I love about DIY washi tape is the abundance of possibilities (without hurting your wallet too much), the ability to cut edges/shapes, and its amazing translucent quality. :)

Patterned scrap paper

I picked up a half pound of scrap cardstock paper from Michael's a few weeks ago for only $1.49! This is what I came up with using a few of those papers.

Take 2-Runway Inspired #15

Here's my second take on the Runway Inspired Challenge and this time, I finally tried the Hero Arts plaid background stamp I got a few weeks ago.

I tried quilling with 2 paper strips for the first time and I'd like to keep trying that out. I also hand wrote the sentiment as I didn't have the stamps to express what I needed. I also want to keep practising on my calligraphy (now if only I can find my nib pen). I think I'm going to give tonight a rest from card making although I can't guarantee that. :P I still have about 8 actual cards I have to complete to give to people :)

Back home

I'm back from vacation with a quick card post. Yes, first night back and instead of unpacking, I've decided to do some creating :)

I follow a lot of craft blogs and it seems plaid is popping up everywhere from the Runway Inspired Challenge. I decided to join in for the fun. :) I'm also participating in CAS-ual Fridays (text) and Moxie Fab World (thank you card). While I've been following and reading these blogs, this is my first time joining in for the challenges at all three of these blogs.

I recently bought a Hero Arts plaid stamp (what a coincidence) but instead of using it, I decided to stamp with my flip flops lol...(maybe I should return the plaid stamp after all). I really like the effect it created and I think I'm going to keep making more of them for future patterned paper :) I used acrylic ink for the stamping and I really like the versatility of this ink because I also plan on using it for painting in the near future (I hope). To go with the more artsy look, I decided to hand-write the text. The card can be seen as a kind of thank you for keeping myself/heart together.

That's all for tonight :)

Use It Tuesday #35: Use Embossing

It's challenge time over at Use It Tuesday and I have my first project as part of the design team (still can't believe it).

In this challenge, we are digging into our embossing supply stash. Ever since I started buying craft supplies last year, it's been a kind of addiction and if I had the choice, I could spent hours at a craft store. That being said, last year, I bought the Vagabond as well as the Sizzix starter embossing plates. Sad to say but I haven't used the embossing plates to complete a project until this challenge at  Use It Tuesday (thank you!) Here's the card I came up with:

Other than the hoarded embossing plates, I used a Stampin' it Up flower punch I bought from a garage sale last year that I haven't really used and also paper from my huge stack of scrapbook paper I bought from Costco.

I seem to be using the fringe flower a lot lately after I recently learned it.

I also gave this card to my mom-in-law for her birthday during my vacation (which I'm still on). She loved it and made an order for 5 more birthday cards (that will help fund some of my future craft purchases...as soon as I use my hoarded ones :D)

Come join in the fun and use up some of the craft stash you've got. Don't forget to check Use It Tuesday for some wonderful inspiration from all the talented design team :)

Challenge runs until July 20th.

Use It Tuesday Design Team

I'm still on vacation and enjoying all the rest time as well as the beach :)

My little surprise for this post is...I made it on my first design team at Use It Tuesday! I feel really honoured to get chosen as I am fairly to new to card-making and I get to play along with all the talented crafters on the new team. I also love this challenge blog as it encourages us to use up our craft stash, which I seem to love purchasing but haven't used a lot of it. I hope this will help out with my craft supplies shopping addiction :o). Here's my little badge ^-^

Be sure to check out all the talented ladies on this term's design team :).
